Native Garden and Plant Giveaway Opportunities

Nebraska Monarchs has opportunities for individuals and organizations to receive free native plants! Plants are locally sourced and are purchased with the intention of providing complete microhabitats for pollinators.

Native Gardens for Individuals
Each year, Nebraska Monarchs gives out about 250 gardens to individuals (one per household) on a first-come, first-served basis at the annual Native Plant Giveaway and Environmental Expo. This event is usually held the third Saturday in May.

Native Gardens for Shared Spaces
Nebraska Monarchs will give out 50 gardens to be planted in shared spaces across Nebraska. The application for 2027 will open in early April.

Plant 1 - Take 1 Events
At these events, Nebraska Monarchs works closely with a site host to plant native plants on the property. Nebraska Monarchs purchases the plants from a local supplier and asks the public to help plant the habitat. Participants can then take plants home for their own gardens.
